Letters: Lafarge plans celebration of the late George Gardner

His charismatic presence will be forever missed

To the Expositor:

Lafarge Canada celebrates Father George Gardner’s life and his extraordinary contributions to the Whitefish River Terminal. Recently, his presence and support were instrumental in the negotiation and signing of the Terminal’s 50-year agreement. Throughout the years, Father Gardner’s dedication to the community was both unwavering and sincere.

In 2017, in order to honour Father Gardner’s life, Lafarge built a waterfront pavilion and named it â€œThe George Gardner Wassai Giizhagaad Bright Day Pavilion». As an organization, we were all deeply saddened by the news of his passing at the beginning of this year. His community involvement was a testament of his great stature and respect. The local team will always remember him as the remarkable person he was and we will do our best to follow in his footsteps – his charismatic presence will be forever missed.

Please join us in honouring Father George Gardner’s fruitful life.
