M.S.S. Kids In The Halls

Welcome back to Kids in The Hall!

The yearbook is back! The high school tradition of yearbooks is returning to MSS students. For the past couple of months, a group of students have been working towards putting together this memento of the 2023-24 school year. A section of the yearbook will include grade awards. This week voting opened for students to nominate their peers for various titles including, Best Dressed, Most Involved, Best Dancer, Most Energetic, Smartest, Most Likely to Be A Millionaire, Best Hair, Best Singer, Most Likely To Become Famous, Most Sporty, Class Clown, and Kindest. The second round of nominations will be posted later this week to select the winner out of the top-voted students from the initial election. These students will have their photos and awarded titles published in this year鈥檚 yearbook.

The school dance is this Friday, May 3! To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get dressed up, the Prom Project is now open. The Prom Project collects donations of old prom dresses, suits, shoes, and jewellery and students who are in need of these items may take one to keep for the upcoming Spring Formal. This year鈥檚 formal theme is Under The Stars, and it is sure to be out of this world.

Monday, April 22 was Earth Day. In honour of this, SHARE/Go Green hosted an Earth Week challenge. For each day of the week, there was a different environmental challenge. Monday students picked up bags of litter, Tuesday was a waste-free lunch day, Wednesday was a vegetarian day, and Thursday students were asked to bring any old textiles (clothes, bedding, towels) for donation. Students who participated in one or all of these activities won tickets to a movie day on Friday, April 26. With over 50 students participating in these challenges, it is safe to say that MSS is earning its title of Platinum Eco-School. Together, we can all make the world a better place!

The MSS robotics team has returned from its trip to the World Championship in Houston, Texas. After nearly a week away, students are returning with the Team Sustainability Award and several great memories. Congratulations to 澳门三肖三码 Metal!

Grade 8 Shadow Day is this Thursday, May 2. MSS will open its doors to grade eight classes from across the Island to give students a taste of what high school is like to prepare them for next year. Grade 8 students will trail current grade nine students to their second-period classes and explore different clubs and extracurriculars at lunch. This is a great opportunity for incoming students to ease into high school, as many can find it daunting. I know I did!

That is all for this week! Until next time, go, Mustangs, go!
