M.S.S. Kids In The Halls

For the first time in several years, MSS will have a yearbook for students to purchase as a keepsake of their time in high school. Creating the yearbook doubles as a co-op for the students putting it together. Co-ops give students work experience while simultaneously earning them credits toward their graduation. These students, Tessa Merrylees, Evan Moggy-Buie and Hailey Ferguson, have been working diligently since the start of the second semester to put this together. The yearbook will include memories of school events, class photos, sports events and much more!

The MSS robotics team, 澳门三肖三码 Metal, traveled to their first competition this season over the weekend. Twenty-seven of the team鈥檚 members took off for Nipissing University on Friday, March 22 where 31 other teams (and their robots) met them. The team鈥檚 robot, affectionately named Ludwig Von BEEtoven, competed in several matches against teams from all over Ontario, winning some and losing some. 澳门三肖三码 Metal placed 17th with their robot overall. While robots were whirring on the playing field, the business and build teams spoke to judges about the team鈥檚 outreach efforts like their elementary school visits, waste clean-ups, and international assistance to other teams, along with several other initiatives. The judges seemed very impressed with the team鈥檚 children鈥檚 book, 鈥楻obofriends And The Mow Zone.鈥 After three days full of robot repairs, strategy, interviews and fun, 澳门三肖三码 Metal is taking home the Engineering Inspiration Award that 鈥渃elebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team鈥檚 school or organization and community.鈥 Lead Mentor Yana Bauer was also recognized as a Woodie Flowers Award nominee. 澳门三肖三码 Metal will be leaving for the McMaster tournament on Thursday, March 28 where 6865 will have the opportunity to compete again. For those interested, you can follow the team鈥檚 journey @frc6865 on Instagram and Facebook.

It is almost midterms and that means鈥arent-teacher interviews! The interviews took place on Wednesday, March 27. Teachers and their student鈥檚 guardians conferenced about student progress and what the next steps should look like moving forward. Parent-teacher interviews also serve as a volunteering opportunity for students.

That is all for this week! Until next time, go, Mustangs, go!
