LARRY MOGGY

LARRY MOGGY
Larry Moggy died suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, April 25, 2024, he was 74. Larry was a lifelong farmer and was aware of how fortunate he was to do what he loved every day. He inherited his amazing work ethic from his dad Ralph Moggy whom he worked beside for almost 50 years. Larry read and researched cattle breeds, genetics and marketing trends and he bought bulls and breeding stock to suit those trends and built a herd that was strong and whose off-spring were highly marketable. He kept his select bull calves and raised bulls which he sold throughout northern Ontario, meeting and forming lasting friendships with many people. Of course, the single most important thing was family. He and his wife Sue raised two sons, Andrew (Li Xin) and Geoff (Amy) and had three wonderful grandchildren, Kate, Gerry and Earl. The cottage on Lake Manitou was the scene of lots of hide and seek, nightly games of Grandpa chasing little boys, catching snakes and teasing and cuddling his 鈥渇avourite鈥 granddaughter Kate, who painted his toenails a beautiful shade of green for his trip to Costa Rica with Grandma in February. There were tractor rides, walks in fields, and when lucky, even bottle feeding a rejected calf. Many long-time family friendships sprung from early days of hockey when Larry played and later when he coached. He was just going back to the arenas the last couple years to watch his grandkids. Larry was the oldest of six boys, Dallas (Noella) (both predeceased), Blaine (Fran), Royce (predeceased), Marvin and Terry (Joyce). Sisters-in-laws JoAnn, Sandra and 鈥淎unt鈥 Jeannine. He will be missed by his much loved mother-in-law Nola Haner, Aunt Eileen, Lynn, Blair, Brad and their families. Larry鈥檚 ashes will be scattered on the two places he loved most, the farm and the cottage property. No fanfare involved as per his wishes. Donations would be appreciated to a local charity of your choice, one of which is Friends of the Mindemoya Old School (FOMOS). The website explains how to donate and receive your income tax deductible receipt.
