Hatchery tour 1 — Club member (and past president) Bill Strain explains the intricacies of the walleye nets that are set in the rivermouth to capture spawning fish.

Students learn the intricacies of putting eggs and sperm together to fertilize the walleye eggs.

Students from Wasse Abin Pontiac School in Wiikwemkoong got to be hands on when they came to the Little Current Fish and Game Club hatchery at the mouth of Bass Creek to learn about the club’s conservation efforts. Each student receives a fishing rod as a gift following the demonstrations. Area schools took turns coming to the site to learn about conservation.
